CHARACTER
Name: Dipper Pines
Age: 12
Canon: Gravity Falls
Canon Point: After Summerween
Personality: Dipper doesn't give you a whole lot going off of a visible first impression. Don't let that fool you, though. Dipper may be a scrawny, twelve-year-old boy that reeks of emotional issues and baby wipes, but he's a scrawny, twelve-year-old boy who battles the weird and paranormal that inhabits his town using only an old cryptic book he found in the woods and his wits.
Despite his age, he's an extremely intelligent and level headed thinker. Being the direct foil of his twin sister Mabel, he's the one that applies logic and planning to problem solving, as opposed to her silly and spontaneity. When there's trouble, Dipper is the first one with a plan and the guts to execute it. He's an incredibly quick thinker, able to think under dire, life threatening situations. For a good example of this, there is an episode where he and some of his friends are trapped in a haunted convenience store with two vengeful spirits picking them off one by one. He was able to quickly puzzle out the ghosts intentions and negotiate their freedom from the store. His sharp wit and over all resourcefulness has gotten them all out of trouble on multiple occasions.
On top of his sharp wit, Dipper is a genuinely outgoing and nice kid. He has a heart for adventure and everything he does generally all have good intentions. Though he may be hard pressed to admit it, his sister is his closest friend and he is always the first person by her side when she needs him. (Examples of this include him offering to tell Gideon that she wanted to break up with him so she didn't have to do it and choosing her and her happiness over a potential timeline where he got the girl of his dreams.)
Dipper isn't without fault. As Mabel's put it, he gets in his own way. His over planning, over analytical self has been known to, while be helpful in a lot of instances, seriously hold him back in situations of a more social nature. He's meticulous on a neurotic level, and compulsively makes lists to ensure things go his way. Because of his dealings in Gravity Falls, he's also suspicious and easily paranoid. He can also suffer from short bouts of insecurity and self-doubt and often feels the need to prove himself to others and to himself. He's also a little dumb in the sense that it takes a bit for him to see when he's done something insensitive. Sometimes he's not willing to admit when he's wrong until its pointed out to him. Also if the right thing to do comes between him and something he really wants, it takes him more than a hesitation to do the right thing.
That's usually okay because when you get down to it, Dipper's still just a kid. He's smart, but lacks the experience. His maturity usually exceeds his years, but that does not mean he won't act like a proper 12-year-old sometimes. He can act bratty, or silly just as easily as he can act smart and level.
Abilities/Strengths: Dipper is extremely intelligent for his age and also possesses remarkable deductive reasoning. He also has the ability to keep a pretty rational head around a crisis and can think on his feet when the chips are down.
Despite his size and lack of manliness, he can actually handle himself pretty well in a fight or confrontation. He did, somehow, take down some monstrous nine-headed bear thing with a spear and loin cloth. Barring that, he can at the very least take a beating without going down.
Weaknesses: Dipper biggest weakness is his size and age. He's good at taking hits, but he's still just an average 12-year-old boy, there's nothing superhuman about him.
On a less physical note, Dipper's over analytical nature will get him in more trouble than anything. Not to mention his constant paranoia, rampant curiosity, and inability not to take a good mystery when it presents itself. He's been pretty lucky not getting killed so far.
ARCANARUM
Story: The Cricket and the Cougar
Story Character: The Cougar
Plans: The first big difference between Dipper and the Cougar is that the Cougar is very clearly an animal. Having to deal with instincts over his own logical mind is going to be a huge obstacle for him. It's going to test his self restraint and control, which will be pretty hard on a kid his age.
